When Gerald Plount was interacting with the villagers he described them as being gentle and welcoming for the most part. They would offer him rice wine and some meat he could only assume was dog. He never touched the meat but rice wine was common thing he shared with the Vietnamese. Their villages we small along with their housing but the Vietnamese worked together to survive. Because many American soldiers were always near they went through a lot of beer and fast i might add. villagers would sometimes use these to cans and would flatten them out and build roofs for their houses.
